Before you start

Equipment

  • Rubber gloves
  • Plastic container, stainless steel sink or washing machine
  • Spoon for mixing/stirring
  • 1 sachet of Aybel fabric dye
  • 1 sachet of Fiske fixing agent (recommended)
  • 20 gr salt
  • 200 ml hot water (60°+)
  • 50 ml vinegar (only if dyeing wool, silk or polyamide/Nylon)
  • A little scrap of fabric for testing
  • Clean fabric or garment to dye

Prepare the dye bath

Put on some rubber gloves and add the content of a sachet of fabric dye to 200 ml of hot water. Stir to dissolve completely and add the salt (and vinegar, if necessary). Mix well until no powder or salt are visible.

Test the colour by dipping a little piece of fabric into it and let it soak for a couple of minutes, then rinse well.

Proceed by adding the solution to your container, sink or washing machine.

Hand dye

  • Fill a plastic container or stainless steel sink with enough hot water for the fabric to move freely in it. (Check the suggested water temperature on the care instruction label of your garment). Add the colour to the water and mix well.
  • Thoroughly wet your garment and then soak it into the colour bath, stirring continuously for a few minutes to ensure the colour evenly distributes.
  • Let it soak for about 1 hour or as long as needed, occasionally stirring and making sure it's always well immersed in the colour bath.
  • Remove from the dye bath and rinse well until there is little to no more traces of colour in the water.
  • If you're using the fixing agent Fiske, than you can now add it to some lukewarm water and let the rinsed garment soak in it for about 30 minutes.
  • Proceed by washing separately.

Machine dye

  • Thoroughly wet your garment and add it to your washing machine.
  • Add the 200 ml colour solution into the detergent compartment.
  • If you're using the fixing agent Fiske, add it to the fabric softener compartment.
  • Select a washing programme about 2 hours long at the highest temperature. If dyeing delicate garments, always refer to their care instruction label.
  • Once finished, wear some gloves and proceed by removing any colour residues from the rubber parts of your washing machine with the help of a damp cloth.
  • If necessary, run a rinsing cycle to clear out any dirt.
  • Finally, wash your garment separately.

Warning: keep Aybel's products away from the reach of children. Not suitable for consumption. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse immediately under running water.
